As a child my grandfather would take me down to the train station every afternoon so that we could see the passenger trains pull into the station. Out of those trips I developed a love for trains.

When I got a few years older I became fascinated with model trains would spend hours in our garage with my dad setting up the track and running our trains around the room and through the mountains that we had constructed out of wire and plaster of Paris. It was always a great sense of accomplishment to put together buildings and trees that looked like they belonged in our miniature electric world. Those days will be with me forever.

When I grew up and was able to get a place of my own, I started to put together my own train layout. It was not very big which was good because I only had a two bedroom apartment. Each evening when I came home I would go to work on my layout and painstakingly put together buildings, scenery and cars. I was able to remember the things my fateher had taught my brother and me about taking my time and doing it right. In this case, the the "haste makes waste" is reality.

I knew I was putting together a work of art, at least in my opinion. Then one night I invited my date in to see my creation. She took one look and said that is so cute that you play with toy trains.

I wonder who she is dating now?
