Model Trains are one of the oldest types of toys. Model trains are now more popular than ever, especially among Baby Boomers who were children when Lionel trains were the "must have" toys. They are sold in standard scales, from the tiny Z scale to large G scale. As with all model trains that we can buy for our collections today, electric model trains are just scale models of the real thing.

Model trains are miniature versions of trains and are built to scale, which means they're exact replicas of the larger trains they are modeled after.. Model trains are practically guaranteed to amuse not only the young ones in your life but adults as well. They are truly a long-term, lifelong investment for most people, returning benefits through the ups and downs of reality (and in these times a bit of reality-freedom is good). Model trains are an integral part of American culture, having bound together generations of children with a common thread.
A model train is the perfect gift for almost everyone. Model trains are the best hobby in the world (in my humble opinion), but if you are going to pay full retail price for everything you buy, it will soon become the most expensive hobby you have ever had.
So, with that having been said, one of my best sources for products is eBay...my favorite place to shop. And this applies whether you are an experienced model railroader or you are starting off with your very first locomotive.
Model railroads including model trains are also common hobbies for rail fans when not out watching trains. The collectors and enthusiasts span the genereation gap and although they were held up as toys a few years ago, model trains are back with a bang and are sought after by collectors all over the place. Sales of model trains are picking up steam again thanks to deals linking them to the Harry Potter and The Polar Express movies, along with a new approach to marketing the old-fashioned toys.
