Here's a bit of history about American Flyer model trains: American Flyer model trains were at the height of their popularity during the first half of the 1900s. By the mid-1930s, the American Flyer model trains and all other products of American Flyer were sold. The American Flyer model trains continued to be a good product and were manufactured up until the 1960s when production was stopped. The American Flyer name eventually became the property of the Lionel Corporation when the American Flyer name and designs were sold to their greatest competitor.
